Gar Francis Acoustic coming to the Record Collector May 27th at 7:30pm

Gar Francis, an award winning singer and songwriter has with his versatile songwriting style produced work in several genres, including blues, Americana, and garage rock. Delivering a blend of music that only solidifies the versatility of this musician from New Jersey.
Born and raised in the Garden State, one of Francis' earliest recollections of his love of music is attributed to listening to his uncle and cousins playing songs by the Everly Brothers on their guitars.
It was during the 70s that Francis made the serious decision to start writing music. One of his first songs, "Baby It's You" for the band Ricochet, became a local hit and the band was asked to perform on a live MTV broadcast.

He was later recruited into the garage rock band, The Doughboys, and wrote the hit "Black Sheep." Francis went on to write and record songs for the band's second CD "Act your Rage."
He also wrote and produced two garage blues albums, "Another Mule in the Barn" for his band Plainfield Slim, and "When the Devil Hits Home" for Plainfield Slim & the Groundhawgs.
Francis has been compared to Bob Dylan and Tom Petty, and he continues to produce and write music. Most recently, Francis wrote and produced "Lady Gaga" for the band The Swinging Iggies.
Francis' music career has spanned decades with a multitude of songs that have entertained audiences for years. For fans who enjoy music from the early 60s, the modern version of roots blues, or good ol' fashioned Americana, then Francis' talents as a performer and songwriter would be sure to please.
